A domestic semiconductor company unveiled its first commercially ready processor on Tuesday, aimed at budget smartphones, set-top boxes and other connected devices.

The chip is built on a licensed architecture with substantial design work done in-house, the company said, positioning it as a step toward reducing reliance on imported processors for entry-level devices.

Volume production is expected to begin next quarter, with three device manufacturers reportedly already signed on as early customers.
