The state government announced a relief package for households and farmers affected by last week's flooding, including cash assistance for damaged homes and a waiver on land revenue for the current season.

District collectors in the affected coastal belt have been asked to complete damage assessments within ten days so payments can begin before the next farming cycle.

The chief minister said additional support for fishing communities, whose boats and nets were damaged, would be announced separately.
