The state assembly passed its annual budget by voice vote on Wednesday, after opposition members staged a walkout over what they called an inadequate allocation for drought relief in the state's northern districts.

The finance minister defended the allocation, saying additional disaster relief funds would be released separately once district-level assessments are complete.

The session concluded a day ahead of schedule after the walkout, with the speaker adjourning proceedings once the budget was passed.
