Hospitals in the capital have reported a nearly 30% rise in dengue admissions compared to the same period last year, as an extended monsoon has left standing water in several neighbourhoods.

Civic authorities have stepped up fogging and larvicide drives in areas reporting case clusters, and have asked residents to clear stagnant water from rooftops and containers.

Doctors are urging anyone with a sustained high fever to get tested early, noting that platelet counts can drop quickly once symptoms begin.
