The health ministry announced an expansion of its free vaccination programme to over four thousand additional primary health centres in smaller towns, a segment the scheme had not previously covered.

The move follows findings from this year's national health survey, which identified a significant coverage gap outside district headquarters.

The expanded drive begins next month and will run alongside the existing programme in larger towns and cities.
