Checked: does the new toll rule apply to two-wheelers?

Posts shared widely this week claimed a new toll rule now applies to two-wheelers across all national highways. We checked the official notification this claim is based on.

The notification is genuine, but its scope is narrower than the claim suggests: it applies only to a specific set of access-controlled expressway stretches, not the national highway network generally.

Two-wheelers remain exempt from tolls on ordinary national highways, as before. The transport ministry confirmed this reading in response to our query.
