The education board announced a revised examination pattern that will split each subject's final exam into two shorter tests, aiming to reduce the pressure of a single high-stakes paper.

Students currently in the ninth grade will be the first to sit the revised pattern when they reach their board year.

Teachers' associations gave the move a cautious welcome, though several asked for a clearer marking scheme before the new pattern is finalised.
